The training was attended by students selected from over 150 applicants from the young community leaders from the faculties in Tirana, Elbasan, Korce and Shkoder.

 During the entire training, we kept strictly the Anti-COVID protocol, social distances, hygienic conditions, application of disinfectants, use of masks and gloves, etc.

The welcoming speech  by Leart Kola, Executive Director of ISSH, who stressed the importance of this program in preparing a team of young people who will be trained in creating a project platform on issues that accompany young people in Albania.

The module was prepared by the experts Maura Linadi, Rezart Struga, Verdi Norja and Resul Resulaj.

The module was developed by Artan Sadiku PhD, who has a long experience as a trainer in the region and focused on the following topics:

• Preliminary analysis of the organization;

• Creating a problem manifestation strategy;

• Drafting the message and the problem tree;

• Group work;

• Presentation group;

Further on the research was done in smaller groups on the current situation in Albania and analysis that link it to the negotiations process (chapters) with the help of experts. The main issues that come into focus from the participants where the ones related to the education system.

The interest of young people was impressive, manifested in the analytical treatment of youth issues of education, social issues and the mentality of society, as well as the provision of various draft projects.

The second week of the training on June 20-21, the participants divided into groups prepared the documents for identifying the problems, presenting to the decision makers and following the project during the summer for the October conference.

Free – no future without remembrance.

FREE | si propone di potenziare i percorsi di cittadinanza attiva dei giovani, dei policy makers, delle istituzioni pubbliche e private e della cittadinanza in generale.

The objectives are:
Cultural and historical, with the aim of keeping alive the historical memory to promote a critical and conscious reading of the present in order to formulate interpretative hypotheses of contemporary society. Educational and social, developing teaching paths, starting from direct experiences to increase active participation in citizenship.

Institutional, developing and networking a wide range of opportunities in: Italy, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Albania, Greece: workshops, training seminars, artistic performances, performances, trips and volunteer camps.

The re-elaboration of the experiences took place through public restitution, with different forms of expression, in a container-installation of artistic performances: readings, choreography, movies, theater pièces, flash mobs, exhibitions.

Institute of Social and Human Studies   organised in Tirana a Two-Day Conference on the heritage of Albanian struggle and culture of saving the Jews during the Second World War.

Before the conference more than 150 students and highschoolers have been informed through engaging in discussions with experts on the Albanian heritage of treating neighbors in times of danger. A great help came from Mr. Petrit Zorba – ‘Albanian – Israel Friendship Association’ whom we thank.

The Institute engages with the most pressing political, policy and cultural issues in today’s Albania by advocating for interventions that lead to the building of a more homogenized process of social transformation. One which does not increase social contradictions, but which contributes to general equality of the community. It proposes policies that enable a participatory and democratic environment both at central and local level of government, thus contributing to citizen’s active political action on the one hand and democratic capacity strengthening of the state institutions on the other.

The Institute’s work is organized in three departments: (1) Development policy analysis; (2) Regional cooperation facilitation; (3) Study of new global patterns.

The opening of the event was done by Mrs.Joleza Koka – ISSH Representative, Project Manager, Tirana followed by a distinguished panel that addressed students coming from 4 high schools of Tirana and civil society.

It was really emotional to hear the testimonies of the people who really lived to see those days and witnessed their parents host Jews expelled from their countries.
